New Year New You
A new year can bring new hope but it can also bring to light recent failures. What was it we promised ourselves with last year’s new year’s resolutions? Like many of us it may have been to lose those unwanted kilos that, no matter how many weight loss pills or short term miracle diets you went on, just would not seem to shift.
Did the last year pass you by with a myriad of excuses as to why that was not your weight loss year? Too many weddings! Not enough time! New job! Building a house! Kids started school! If we continue to prioritise ourselves in this manner we will never get around to managing our weight. You see, your weight reflects your attention to you. Have you really given yourself 100%?
With the dawn of 2014 comes a new opportunity to give back to you: a chance to stop wanting and start doing. After all there simply is no time like the present.
A new year provides the gateway to a new you, and rather than empty promises and the same old excuses why not use the new year’s energy and hope to focus on the most important thing in your life.. YOU!
For some weight management is never an issue, for others nothing that a weekend detox and stint at the gym won’t fix, but for the majority of us weight management is a complex ongoing process that requires a holistic approach, that takes into consideration the bigger picture of our lives both past and present.
To successfully engage in a weight management program takes courage, determination, and the dedication to change. It requires personal reflection, emotional healing, and lifestyle changes.
A successful weight management program does not offer miracle pills, faster than the speed of light weight loss, nor a do nothing approach, and I think deep down inside we all know this. But personal change is challenging, food is comfort, and the fear of failure is great, so giving a half-hearted approach that allows for ample excuses is often the easiest path. The only down fall here is..it just won’t work.
